Florida has taken a significant step forward in issuing rules regarding the production and dispensation of medical marijuana edibles within the state. The rules, which include regulations regarding appearance (including rules rules regarding permitted shapes and prohibitions designed to avoid appealing to underage users) and THC content, should further normalize and expand the Florida medical marijuana market. That said, the vertical integration requirements regarding Medical Marijuana Treatment Centers (entities licensed to grow, produce and dispense marijuana and, now, edibles under Florida law) remain the biggest roadblock to the growth of the state's industry, and although they are currently subject to legal dispute, they continue to inhibit expansion within the state.
